Speed-Controlled Centrifugal Clutches

CENTASTART-V speed-controlled centrifugal clutches are adaptable to many systems, including marine and industrial applications. Torsional vibrations and impacts are damped, reducing wear on equipment. This means CENTASTART-V clutches are built to last even under harsh conditions. A combination of a highly flexible CENTAFLEX -A series rubber element subjected only to compressive stress, and several centrifugal weights with friction lining connected by tension springs make up the CENTASTART-V system, creating a thermally-resistant design with a precisely-determinable engaging speed. The CENTASTART-V allows soft engaging and slip-free power transmission when reaching engaging speed, protecting against overload. Available in many configurations, standard and special designs, with flywheel connections according to SAE, and for non-standard flywheels.

CENTASTART-V Coupling

CENTASTART-V clutches

The CENTASTART-V clutch combines several functions, substituting the expensive application of additional transmission elements such as friction plate clutches, housings, intermediate shafts, bearings, and flexible couplings. The CENTASTART-V functions as a starting clutch, providing acceleration and idling speed without load, total separation of power flow below starting speed, a rise of torque over starting speed, and slip-free transmission at running speed. CENTASTART-V clutches also function as an automatic clutch operated by rotational speed. By changing the speed of rotation, the driving and driven sides of the machine are connected or disconnected, avoiding malfunctions. The highly flexible CENTASTART-V provides shock and vibration absorption as a wear-free element, compensating for misalignment and displacement. The CENTASTART-V offers multi-functionality and protection for your machinery against expensive breakdown.
